ABOUT
Hi. I’m Sue.
Let me tell you my story.
Fractional Marketing Director · Content Strategist · Ghost writer
I left corporate marketing after my second child.
It wasn’t a choice I had planned for. But it was the best thing that happened to me.
I’ve been in marketing for over 20 years and I still genuinely love it.
I love conversations. I love books. I love helping exceptional people find the words for what they do — and watching what happens when they finally do.
I care about the motherhood penalty.
About people the system quietly sidelines.
About workplaces that say the right things and do something else entirely. That’s not a brand value. It’s just what I think.
The founders I work with have usually got something worth saying. They’re just too close to it, too busy, or not sure it’ll land.
My job is to find it and help them say it properly. Not louder. Clearer.
Every business starts somewhere.
And that beginning matters more than most people realise.
I don’t bark orders or hand you a strategy document and disappear.
We work together.
I’m here as much or as little as you need. Some clients want someone to think alongside them.
Others need someone to take it off their plate entirely. Both ways are fine.
I try to make things easy.
Not in a hand-wavy way. In a let’s actually get this sorted way.
I am always learning because marketing keeps changing, and I want to provide the best possible service.
I believe the best work comes from proper collaboration not me telling you what to do.
I’m honest about fit.
I’m not for everyone and I won’t pretend otherwise.
If I don’t think I can genuinely help you, I’ll say so.
And I’ll probably know someone who can. I have a network of brilliant freelancers and I’d rather point you in the right direction than waste your time.
OUTSIDE WORK
- Mum
- Book lover
- Coffee dependent
- Passionate about the motherhood penalty
- SEN Advocate
- Word nerd
20 years. Real businesses.
Real conditions
Education, healthcare, consultancy, professional services.
In-house, alongside founders, and as fractional support for growing teams.
That breadth means I understand how strategy has to work when time is short, budgets aren’t infinite, and the business keeps changing underneath you.
I focus on clarity that’s usable not theoretical frameworks you file and never open again.
EXPERIENCE
Not only did she bring order to the chaos, but she also brought professionalism, good humour, enthusiasm and a massive dose of emotional intelligence, too.
Sue is an absolute pleasure to work with, and I look forward to doing so again. In the meantime, I would recommend Sue and her approach without hesitation.
Rachel Porter - Director of Content and Storytelling at Scriberia
With a wealth of expertise that she is always willing to share, Sue puts the client and customers at the heart of everything that she does.
Not to mention that Sue is open, kind and a joy to work with.
Rosie Wareham - Founder of The Marketing Jacks
I would highly recommend Sue both as an internal marketing consultant as well as if you needed to reach out and use Lost at Sea.
I found her feedback direct, honest and has made a active change to my business.
